THE MOVING GARMENT

In collaboration with the dance students and through the concepts of folding in origami, my group of 4 excluding one dancer have come up with two separates which seeks to challenge the dancer in his motion.

The characterisation seeks to understand the mental disorders Schizophrenia coupled with Claustrophobia in which the dancer plays, inspired by the character of Willy Wonka from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film.

This project seeks to explore restriction and enabling of movement which is hindered by the affixed circular structure of the skirt in response to the reversed personality portrayed by a shrouded mind. Motion is encouraged through the origami folding of the top in which the fabric was personally sent for pleating.
